History of Kashmir Printers Association
Kashmir Printers Association was founded in sixties by the prominent printers like Pt. Hardey Nath Kampasi of Vishnath Press, Mr. S. Surinder Singh of Broca's Artistic Press, Mr. Nirangan Nath of Vasant Art Press, Sheikh Mohammad Ramzan of Ramzan Joo & Sons, Mr. Pandith Kashi Nath of Normal Press, Mr. Noor Mohammad of Shalimar Art Press, Mr. R. R. Kapoor of Indo Art Press, Mr. Noor Mohammad of Kohinoor Art Press & Mr. H.S. Sethi of Hindustan Press etc.
Afterwards the Association worked for the betterment of printing fraternity by the following office bearers of the Association upto 2004. Here we want to mention some prominent members such as Bahau Ud Din Makhdoomi of Taj Printing Press, Dr. Ghulam Nabi of Makoff Printers, Mr. Abdul Qayoom of Shalimar Art Press & Mr. Mohammad Yaqoob Wani of Wani Printing Press. The Association was formally registered in 2005 under No. 1258 with Government of Jammu & Kashmir by some prominent members utilizing their utmost efforts, such as Mr. Ghulam Nabi Khan of Chinar Art Press, Mr. Irshad of Print Care, Mr. Gowhar Ahmad of Exxon Press, Mr. Hilal Ahmad Shah of Mahayat Press and Mr. Surinder Singh of Metro Offset Printers.
The need of the Association has been felt by almost all the printers of the Valley since the dynamic leadership was handed over to Mr. Shabir Ahmad in 2010 who re-established the organization being transparent for the benefit of the Printing fraternity and was elected as the President of KPA in 2014 after an election held in May 2014 and this marked the history of introduction to first ballot voting election in the Association.
